About

I grew up playing sports. Volleyball, basketball, you name it, I played it. And then I tore my ACL in my knee and then tore it two more times during my late teens and early twenties. Although devastated and depressed, I knew there was more to life and exercise than sports; I just couldn’t grasp what it was yet.
Then the day came, 15 years ago, when I was introduced to yoga. Hot yoga was my first experience in Tempe, Arizona. I had never done something physical that also encompassed so much spirituality as well.  My depression soon started to lift and peace and lightness replaced it.  I couldn’t get enough. Yoga allowed me the opportunity to challenge my body and my mind, while still being gentle on my fragile knees.
I continued practicing all types of yoga in San Diego, California throughout my twenties while obtaining my Master’s degree in Education and teaching elementary and middle school. My love of children and yoga made it an easy transition to begin teaching them the poses of yoga as well as breathing techniques to help support them with their school work and anxieties.  They also couldn’t get enough!
During the past two years, I lived on the island of Java, Indonesia where I was able to study and practice yoga immensely (with a focus on Vinyasa) and take classes in Bali from amazing teachers and be surrounded by magical energy.  I guided middle school students through yoga  classes twice a week and it was here that I decided I wanted to teach and guide others more on this fantastic journey of yoga that I have been embracing for so long.

My desire to seek out health and wellness doesn't end with yoga.  I am currently obtaining my Master's Degree in Holistic Nutrition and plan on becoming a health/nutrition coach in the near future.  I feel it is important to be in the kitchen and truly experience the food I am putting in my body.  I want you to have that same experience as well, so I provide simple, healthy recipes for you to dabble in on my site.  Perhaps it will inspire you!
In my free time I love traveling the world with my husband, running, hiking, reading, playing with my puppy and cat, and “cooking” raw vegan and vegan food!
